(This also applies to other recent versions of Windows, just search for «Control panel» and then «Network and Sharing Center»)
In the taskbar, an icon like this is present right click on it then «Open Network & Internet settings» as below.
A Windows page will open, click on «Network and Sharing Center»
A second page will open.
Click on «Change map settings»
A third page will open. Right-click on the Ethernet icon, then go to «Properties»
Once in properties select «Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)» and then again «Properties»
Another page opens, it allows you to change your computer's IP address.
- Click on «Use the following IP address»
- Insert your new IP address, it must be different for the last digit of the address of your controller and other CRE modules (eg: i4GEN touch screen, another controller...) on the same network.
E.g.: the default address of all controllers is 192.168.11.1, you must put for example: 192.168.11.50 as below.
- Set the default mask to «255.255.255.0»
Check the box «Validate settings upon exit» and press «OK». Done.
If the communication is not working after the procedure: make sure:
- The new IP address is setup correctly (you can verify by turning OFF and ON the controller, restarting will show the current IP address in the «About» section.
- Cable connected is correct: CAT 5 cross Ethernet cable (marked CROSSOVER CABLE along its sheath) for direct connection to the module from your computer, or a CAT 5 straight Ethernet cable (marked PATCH CABLE or STRAIGHT-THROUGH CABLE along its sheath) if used with an Ethernet switch.
It is also possible to communicate in DHCP with our controllers, this procedure requires a DHCP server on your local network and the IP setting will be automatically done, and the new IP address will be displayed in the information/system menu.
