GENSYS2.0: Recover IP address or check IP address_En_V1

Created by Frank ROIG, Modified on Mon, 30 Oct, 2023 at 5:02 PM by Frank ROIG

You'll see below a reminder of two procedures (recovery IP address and checking the adress, from SD card), this is a procedure in case you can't communicate with a GENSYS2.0 product:

before to proceed, please check:

- Are you sure of your Ethenert cable? do you use a Ethernet CAT 5 (up to 5e not more) cross cable straight from PC to GENSYS2.0?

- Do you see led bliking on ethernet port? and power supply is ON?

- Did you try by using web browser for connection instead of CRE Config (open firefox or chorme or i.e, type the default ip adress in the navigation bar just like this:

Now the procedures to go further if none of the above is solving the problem:

First:

Chapter “2.5 Retrieving Ethernet connection parameters through SD card” from Technical documentation: QUOTE:

If you need to connect on a unit that has no display (e.g. GENSYS 2.0 CORE) and for which you don’t know the Ethernet settings:

  1. Create an empty text file called WHO_AM_I.txt on an SD card.
  2. Insert the SD card into the unit.
  3. Wait at least 5s and take the SD card back out of the unit.

The TXT file WHO_AM_I.txt has been filled with data such as in the example below:

Date: 29/01/16

Hour: 17:00:54

S/N: 3611A3004

Version: v5.00

Bootversion: v5.00

Netmask : 255.255.255.0

Gateway : 192.36.128.248

Second (it is a reflash so you’ll lost configuration):

To solve this IP Problem we’ve added a feature where the firmware file is able to be read by CORE GENSYS2.0:

The method is just to save one unique FW  “h.86” file on the SD card, named “RECOVERY.H86” , with this the CORE was able to reinstall by himself the firmware at powerup (no need to put boot strap or to do anything, just put the SD with this file name and power up, then wait 5 minutes).

The file to rename as RECOVERY.H86 for you is the version customer is using, so if it is a 5.05.h86, download this file on the SD card and rename it.

If you do not have a FW file for GENSYS2.0 please contact support.

End of procedure
