Synchronisation & Load share only - Mode of operation_En_V1

Synchro & Load share only mode is made to turn standard GENSYS Compact Prime or Mains into an automatic synchronizer & load sharing unit, in order to replace analog load sharing systems, analog synchronizers, or any systems combining these both features (PowRCon, Unigen…)

Once Synchro & Load share only mode is activated, the controller will only launch synchronization on request, and load share once paralleling information has been given.

1. Activation of Synchro & Load share only mode:

From i4GE Suite PC Software, go in Configuration/General/Application, then turn the Synchro & Load share only mode to “yes” at the bottom of the page:

Synchro & Load share only mode is now activated, controller will be forced in AUTO Mode and start/stop sequence management will be cancelled, therefore all starting process of the engine as to be external.

2. Start Synchronization:

Synchronization is started once remote start digital input is activated, in the following conditions:

  1. For genset synchronization on bus:
    1. Frequency is stable at its nominal value
    2. Voltage is stable at its nominal value
  2. For synchronization with mains:
    1. Frequency is stable at its nominal value
    2. Voltage is stable at its nominal value
    3. Mains voltage and frequency are at their nominal.

Synchronization can be tuned in the dynamic configuration menu for synchro PIDs and settings.

Synchronization will last for as long as the remote start input is active, no alarm or fault will be triggered in this state, synchro will remain always active.

When synchronization check relay is in the acceptance window, the output configured as “generator breaker close” or “mains breaker close” will be triggered depending on which synchro is active (genset synchronization or mains synchronization), this output can be used to control circuit breaker directly or can be used to be inserted in a closing request process.

In case dead bus closing is enable, remote start will activate the output for breaker closing accordingly.

Synchronization process will be stopped if remote start is removed or if circuit breaker feedback is received.

3. Starting load sharing (genset paralleling applications):

Load sharing process is started once generator breaker feedback received on a configured digital input (remote start must still be active).

It is possible to bypass synchronization process (in case external synchronizer is used) by activating simultaneously remote start input and generator breaker feedback.

As long as these two signals are active (remote start input and generator breaker feedback) load sharing will be active.

4. Starting load ramp for change over load transfer or fixe power/PF management, for mains paralleling applications:

Load control process is started once generator breaker feedback & mains breaker feedback are received on 2 configured digital inputs (remote start must still be active).

It is possible to bypass synchronization process (in case external synchronizer is used) by activating simultaneously remote start input and both generator & mains breaker feedback.

As long as these 3 signals are active (remote start input and generator breaker feedback & mains breaker feedback) load control will be active.

5. End of load sharing/load control

Load sharing/load control process will be stopped when remote start input is removed.

The load will ramp down to the generator low kW active power threshold (configuration/electrical/generator) and deactivate the generator breaker close output for reached, another output configured as generator breaker open can be used to be activated on request to open.

As long as the circuit breaker remain closed, the genset will remain at its low power configured threshold.

After circuit breaker has been opened, generator circuit breaker feedback gone, and the remote start removed from the controller, unit will remain in waiting status.

Note:

All electrical and process protections of COMPACT controllers are remaining available, therefore if any of the protection is configured as shut down of electrical fault, the related circuit breaker output will be deactivated, another output configured as fault summary (default LED) can also be configured in order to provide a tripping information to the process.

Engine information are disable .

Genset start/stop commands (fuel output, starter,…) are disable in this mode.

All other programming features and power management functions are remaining available in Synchro & Load share only mode.
