Commissioning a Netbiter EC360

Summary

I)           Creating a Netbiter Argos account.

II)         Activation / Addition of a Netbiter to an existing account.

III)       Addition of a « Profile » to your project.

IV)       Creation / Configuration of a « Device » to use the imported profile.

  1. Creating a Netbiter Argos account

Before the Netbiter can be used, it must be registered and activated from a user account in Netbiter Argos. If you already have a Netbiter Argos account, you can go directly to the Activation/addition of a Netbiter to an existing account.

To register a Netbiter Argos account, it is necessary to have the system ID and activation code supplied with the Netbiter. If the activation code has been lost, contact Netbiter support.

Go to the Netbiter Argos www.netbiter.net.

Click "Register" and enter the required information in the registration form.

Click on "Register" after you have completed the registration form and agreed to the Netbiter Argos terms of use. An activation link will be sent to the e-mail address you provided.

Click on the activation link in the e-mail you received.

Once the account has been activated, you can log in to your new account with the username and password you provided in the registration form.

Password recommendations

A « strong » password is important to prevent unauthorized access to Netbiter Argos.

The password you create for your account must:

  • Contain at least 8 characters, including capital and small letters, numbers, and special symbols

  • Not contain personal information about the user

  • Not be identical to the user's username or e-mail address

  • Not be used on multiple sites

2. Activation / Addition of a Netbiter to an existing account.

Make sure your Netbiter is operating and connected to the Internet, either via an ethernet cable connected between your network and the product's WAN port or via a GSM card (see GSM connection procedure at the end of the chapter below).

Log in to your account at www.netbiter.net/login. You should be redirected to this page

Once you've entered your information (Username and Password) and pressed the « Sign in » button, you should be taken to the main page

Then, in the top left-hand corner, click on the "Management" tab.

From this new « Management » page, on the second sub-menu, click on the « Properties » tab (in yellow on the image below):

Then, on the « System ID » line, click on "Advanced config".

From this new page, on the second sub-menu, click on the "Add system" tab.

On this page, all you have to do is enter the name you wish to give your new Netbiter, the « System ID » and « Activation Code » of the new Netbiter (available on a small sheet in the product box), enter the project that will be assigned to the new Netbiter and then define its « Time zone ».

Note: Image of the small sheet in the product box where we find (instead of the 2 black lines) the « System ID » and the « Activation Code » of the new Netbiter we wish to add to our Netbiter Argos account.

Once the information has been entered, click on "Add".

Once the new Netbiter has been added, you should be redirected to this page:

As you can see, the new Netbiter has been added and is currently in the « Inactive » tab,  because nothing has been done with it yet.

To activate it, simply click on "activate" on the right-hand side of the screen.

Once activated, you should be redirected to this page:

If the « System ID » and « Activation code » fields are not filled in, you can fill them in at this point with the information provided on the small sheet (see note above).  Normally, if you had added them before clicking the « Add » button on the previous page, they will already be filled in as shown on the page above.

If not already selected, choose « Use system for View & Control (Remote management) »:

Finally, click on the « Activate » button at the bottom of the page.

You must ensure that your gateway is connected to the Internet for activation, either via an Ethernet cable on a local network, or via the SIM card on a GSM network:

Note: GSM connection procedure:

Go to the Management/Mobile Network menu and enter the number of the SIM card, as well as the APN (this can be found on the operator contract or in the SIM parameters visible from a phone where the card is inserted).

The SIM card PIN must be deactivated.

Once activated, you should now see your Netbiter in the « Active » tab on this page:

Note: There can be only one system, and therefore only one Netbiter per « free » account (without a subscription). For more information, click here: Netbiter Argos Licensing.

3. Addition of a « Profile » to your project.

Now that your Netbiter has been added to your Netbiter Argos account, let's add the « profile » (a kind of software) for managing an AMF Compact.

Go to the « Management » tab, click on the « Profiles » tab, and then on the « Import profiles » tab.

Click on "select file (*data)", then select the file (.data) available as an attachment to this article.

Note that with the profile import (here GENSYS COMPACT AMF-ASM Français), a template is also imported (GENSYS COMPACT), along with several dashboards providing a graphical interface for AMF Compact control (Bus, Control, Generator, and Engine).

Once the profile has been imported, still in the « Profiles » tab, if you consult the « Profiles » sub-tab, you will see that the profile you have just added is there:

4. Creation / Configuration of a « Device » to use the imported profile.

Once the profile has been imported, go to the « System » tab, then to the « Configuration » sub-tab. We are now going to create a « Device »  using the profile you have just imported.

You should be redirected to this page:

Normally, you should have 2 « devices » available by default: the « Virtual GPS » and the « Virtual EC300 series » à  you can not delete them.

To add a new « Device », simply click on the « add device » button, and this « PopUp » should open:

Select "Use configuration from a profile":

Then enter these parameters:

Press the « next » button, then fill in the various lines as follows:

For the (Device name), you can enter whatever you like; the Tag is not necessary. Enter the Modbus slave number and Modbus IP address corresponding to the Compact module you wish to control from Netbiter Argos. For the Modbus port number, leave the default one (502), as this is the same as the one set by default on the AMF Compact.

Press the « next » button, then on the page below, press the « save » button.

You should now see the « device » in the list below:

Now go to the « Gateway settings » sub-tab

Configure the « Modbus » section like this and do not forget to click on the « save » button:

Configure the « LAN configuration » section like this and do not forget to click on the « save »  button:

If communication subsequently fails, change the mode in the « LAN configuration »  section to « Manually set a fixed IP address and netmask », then set it to the same subnet mask as the AMF Compact and an IP address similar to that of the AMF Compact à  by default, AMF Compact IP address: 192. 168.11.1 and AMF Compact subnet mask: 255.255.255.0; this means, for example, 192.168.11.60 for the Netbiter's LAN IP address and exactly the same subnet mask.

Once all these settings have been made, you can click on the green « Synchronize configuration » button, making sure that the Netbiter is connected online (to the Internet via its RJ45 WAN port or via a SIM card enabling connection via « mobile data ») to the small green star to the left of the « Status » sub-tab (if a red star is shown à  the Netbiter is offline):

Once the green « Synchronize configuration » button has been clicked, this « PopUp » appears:

If the synchronization was successful, you will get the following message:

You can press the « close » button and the Netbiter will restart.

Otherwise, if you get an error message, press the « close » button and try to restart synchronization by pressing the green « Synchronize configuration » button again.

If the synchronization was successful, when you return to the main « Presentation » tab, you should be redirected to this page:

.

Once the profile has been loaded, if you have an antenna enabling GPS localization of the Netbiter, you can connect it to your Netbiter EC360 at the port provided.

To set up GPS localization, first, go to the « Management » page, then to the « System » sub-page, then to the « Configuration » tab, and finally to the « Gateway settings » sub-tab. If you scroll down, you should come to the « GPS » settings:

If it has never been activated before, set the first « Enabled » parameter to « ON ».

For the second parameter, « Distance », it is recommended to leave the default value of 100 m.

Finally, for the « Baud rate » setting, it is recommended to set it to 9600 bps, as this is the setting also entered for COM Modbus, and the one most commonly used.

Once this has been set, go to the « Map » tab:

If you scroll down a little, you should come across the settings for locating your Netbiter on the map just above:

If your antenna is properly connected and detected by the Netbiter, you should be able to press the little «GPS» button, which will automatically fill in the coordinates (latitude and longitude) to locate your Netbiter on the map.

Next, activate the « Enable GPS tracking on map »  option, so that you can receive an alarm if your Netbiter ends up outside the zone you have defined here: « Alarm radius ».

Once all this has been set, do not forget to press the « save » button.

WARNING: Do not press the « clear tracking » button if you are not changing the Netbiter site, as this will erase all GPS data and require reconfiguration.

To test whether you are receiving the alarm linked to the Netbiter's GPS position, after saving the settings, you can manually move the Netbiter's position pointer on the map and set the minimum radius (1 m) in « Alarm radius ».

If the test is conclusive, on the « Presentation » page, in the « Alarm » tab, you should see the following:
